  • Takowasa's followers found the Octarian National Preservation League (ONIL)

1935

• The slowly decaying Bonerattle Island is annexed by the True Salmon Emperor Mushanokouji during a border skirmish with Inkadia. The prisoners there are are sent on a boat east to make them Inkadia's problem, and the island is converted into a gladiator arena for Salmonid prisoners already facing capital punishment.
  • The Bonerattle prisoners manage to hijack the ship they were sent on mid-sail and dock in the Splatlands instead, scattering.

1947

• To the public, Captain Craig Cuttlefish quietly retires and takes his leave from state matters. In private, he becomes more involved than ever, devoting all of his efforts into managing and leading, manipulating chess pieces behind the scenes.

1966

• Ark Polaris crashes into the middle of the Bay of Inkoplis, killing hundreds in Inkadia and the Splatlands from the resulting tsunami.
  • The only survivor, Bear #03, affectionately nicknamed "Kuma-san" by his human caretakers, finds himself in a foreign land in a foreign time, on the eastern coast of the Splatlands. He wanders back to Alterna, where he finds out the fate of the mammals from O.R.C.A. and crafts his plan to bring them back.
  
  • Kuma-san founds Grizzco Industries in Inkopolis (as the Splatlands were a socialist state at the time) under the alias "Mr. Grizz".

Feburary 7th, 1979:

1985

• In a last ditch effort to stem the expansion of Kamabo Co. into Octarian turf, Octarian authorities order the covert destruction of several domes on the south-eastern border, masking it as "impending structural dome collapse", decrying any documentation of it as "cursed by underground demons".

1990

January

January 15, 1990:

• When the Inkadian Octarians took their first steps into the domes, half-built and eerily preserved just as the humans left them millenia ago before the Cataclysm, but most importantly, equipped with a mostly functional energy system, it was the reprieve they needed in a sea of misery and despair. Nobody questioned it, everyone was just glad to have an ounce of safety and comfort again. Even over the next decades, people took the domes' energy for granted and any concerns raised over the supply running out were shrugged off.

1991

• Amidst the global collapse of communist-alligned regimes, confrontation between a movement in the Octarian Shogunate demanding the reunification of Inkadia and the end of Takowasa's autocracy and Takowasa's forces results in an out of control disaster. By the end, hundreds of deaths the government dare not count. Takowasa's actions are condemned internationally — the Octarian Shogunate turns increasingly repressive and isolationist, it's last ally – the Salmonid Empire.

1991-2000

• Economic crisis in the Octarian Shogunate due to the evaporation of foreign aid as it builds up autarky.

1994

• With the global collapse of communist movement, the last members of the Communist Party of Inkadia are hunted down and killed.

1997

August 25, 1997:

• Marie Kensaki is born.

October 5, 1997:

• Callie Cuttlefish is born.

2000

January

• Happy New Millennium. The explosions of fireworks sound in flashing skies as people around the world breathe sighs of relief that technological catastrophe didn't happen, except in the Octarian Shogunate, where their human-descended technology never had that concern in the first place.

December 30, 2000:

• Gabija Degačera is born.

August 30, 2012:

• Callie and Marie move to Inkopolis, Marie aged 14, Callie just turned 15.

2013:

• Ichiya moves to Inkadia the summer after high school graduation, leaving Beika behind.

• Squid Squad's debut album, "Fresh Kids", is released.

• Marina Ida's 16th birthday.

• Events of S1: “Day of the Zapfish”
  • Akvilina runs away from home on a train heading to Inkopolis.
  • Operation "Dawn": From both sky and underground, Octarian forces invade and occupy key position in Inkopolis and steal it's Great Zapfish in the middle of it's annual Day of the Zapfish festival, aiming to choke out the Inklings until they suffocate.
  • Captain Craig Atarime invites Akvilinia to join the New Squidbeak Splatoon as Agent 3. They accept.

July 26, 2017:

• If Agent 4 and Marie had failed in their mission, the most fanatical ultranationalists in the Octarian government would've gone through the "July Plot":
  • Takowasa would be assassinated by the conspirators themselves.
  • The conspirators would've moved to seize the government and pin Takowasa's murder on Callie and Marie, claiming them to have "deceived our great DJ-Shōgun and the public" and claiming them to be part of "an Inkling plot to destroy Octarian culture and the Octarian nation from the inside", executing them on the spot.
  • The new government would declare full-scale war on the Inkadia, mobilizing their entire military force – hundreds of thousands, past north of the Nantai mountains, beginning the Second Great Turf War.
